YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Here are some questions we often get asked about monitoring, managing and saving energy. If your question isn’t in the list below, drop us an email and we’ll be in touch with the answer.
Would this negate the need for power factor correction units?
Where existing PFC units are in place the PCR will compliment them. PCR are positioned as close to the asset as possible e.g. the PCR would be connected to the compressor not to the main intake feeding the compressor. The effect of this is that the PCR will correct the inefficiencies at the end of the circuit where the PF is always at it’s lowest. If there are no PF units in place then the PCR will raise the main PF.
What is the typical saving of a PCR?
It depends on the suitability of the site, however in normal conditions we can save you over 12%.
How easy are the DMD and PCR to install?
A lot of time has gone into making our products as simple to install as possible. The DMD has 3 CT’s and 3 voltage connections and the PCR has 3 connections making them no more difficult to install than most electrical items. Once they are connected we are able to remotely configure them via 4G.
Do I have to shut down my whole site to install?
No. Dependent on where they are being connected, isolation typically only is needed for up to 45 minutes for each circuit.
Why do I need a DMD? Can't I just buy a simple monitor?
There are various types of monitors available, ranging from cheap and simple to expensive and complicated however the DMD is the only one available that can do everything at once i.e we can monitor every aspect of electrical data through the one DMD device. We offer the functionality at a low price point.
How much would something like this cost to install and how long would this take?
The ROI for a PCR system is typically in the region of 12-18 months with a saving of 12%. We aim to sell you energy savings, not units and therefore the cost for a full site project is typically 10% of your annual energy bill. As far as lead times go, we have availability for quick turnarounds within the UK.
Do you need to visit site to survey first?
A site visit is always preferred in order to gauge the viability and devise an installation plan. We can however perform a lot of the calculations and positioning via up to date single line diagrams of the sites electrical system. Any existing electrical data from metering is always welcome. If metering is not in place or not comprehensive enough then the first stage of any installation would be the fitting of the DMD in order to accurately measure and assess the energy profiles of the site and circuits.
Do you offer after sale support and service?
For a monthly subscription we offer an energy monitoring and reporting service to compliment the DMD installation. For a small monthly cost we can take the stress and confusion away and report to you the key metrics that you need to make informed decisions.
How long is the Warranty and what does it cover?
All EF products come with a 2 year warranty. Simply return the faulty item to us in an acceptable condition and we will replace it with a new one.
